As we all adapt to the changes that coronavirus has brought to our lives and learning, I would like to acknowledge teachers like Gail Heibert at David Hoy Elementary. Ms. Heibert's class had prepared an Earth Day event that couldn't go ahead as planned. Not to be deterred, she and her fellow teachers individually prepared 600 pine plugs for home delivery or pick up to students and staff of David Hoy! For the second year in a row, students continued to learn about global warming, carbon sequestration, and took action by planting their own trees. Amazing!
This modified event was made possible by local forester, Tanya Kruisselbrink, and Apollo Forest Products. Thank you to Tanya and Apollo for the tree donations! Look at those happy faces and covid cuts...
